2009 TOPPS STERLING BASEBALL

Went to the LCS and got 2 boxes of 2009 Topps Sterling baseball. This year they did it a little different, instead of being 1 player, and 1 card, this year they did themes, and you get now 2 cards instead of the 1 hit #/10, and three base cards, and you still get the mystery pack as in previous years. Well the 2 boxes i broke were Silver Sluggers, and All Stars. The All Stars box had Reggie Jackson (Angels uni) #/50, a Johnny Mize 6 game used jersey (Yankee's uni) 6/10, and a Chipper Jones triple jersey (all grey) #/25. OUCH!!!! So just because i am a glutten for punishment i decided to try 1 more box, Silver Sluggers was this theme. Mystery pack Don Mattingly #/50, and then a David Ortiz triple jersey (all white) with RBI cut out 3/10, and the other hit was a David Wright triple jersey (all white) #/25. MAJOR OUCH!!!! I mean for $240+ a box you would expect to get a little more something HIGH END, since after all you are buy a HIGH END product!! I mean just my 2 cents here, but this will prob be the last Topps product i buy for a LONG TIME!!! Dont get me wrong the Mize was a nice card, but man for the $$......In my opinion this should be $120 a box. I will post the pic of the Mize since it is nice, but overall i was not at all happy with the breaks.

09 PLAYOFF CONTENDERS

Went to the Local Card Shop (LCS), and busted 2 full boxes of the stuff $130 per box. You are supposed to get 4 auto's per box. Both Boxes i opened had 5 autos!! Over all i was pretty happy with the beaks. I ended up with 15 auto's all together, so i was pretty stoked. No HUGE name hits, but some solid ones! AUSTIN COLLIE, SHONNE GREEN (on card), DARIUS HEYWARD BEY (on card),JOHNNY KNOX, Hall of Fame member JACK YOUNGBLOOD, and STERLING SHARPE, just to name a few. I love the design this year, its more exciting and really POPS out at you!! I also LOVE that fact that some (not all) of the autos are ON CARD!!! Also like the fact that they also added the Legends auto's to the set as well!! Overall very fun break, and great design, maybe next year ALL the autos can be on card!!

09 TOPPS TRIPLE THREADS BASEBALL!!!

Went to my LCS today and decided to bust a box of 09 Topps Triple Threads Baseball. It has 2 packs and 1 hit per pack. 1st pack had a VERY NICE 5 Relic the read 4,189 H TY COBB game used bat!! It was numbered 18/27!!! Next pack was even more AMAZING!!! It has an Alex Rodriguez 5 relic 1 5 color patch AUTO!!! It was numbered 5/9!!! Christmas Came EARLY!!!

My work had a company wide raffle and the gave away 8 HP Mini Laptops!! They put names in a hat and drew them, i THANKFULLY WON!!! But i really have no need for another laptop, and i'm more of a Mac person, but i was SUPER STOKED to win!! Sorry for the short read and non-sport related:) but i had to share!! FAKES ON THE BAY (ebay that is)

I dont know if it's the bad economy, or if some people just like to rip people off during this time of year, but there has been an ENORMOUS amount of fake auto's and fake patches surfacing up on ebay. I mean more than HALF of the ROOKIE PREMIER PHOTO SHOOT (on card) AUTOS are TOTAL FAKES!!!! And if you see a totally nasty sick patch its most likely a fake patch!! Just an example of a DEAD GIVEAWAY the Carolina Panthers (panther head logo) is a SCREEN PRINTED LOGO!!!!! There should be NO STITCHING!!!! I have seen a few Jonathan Stewart Exquisite rookie patch logo's with the FAKE logo patch in there in HOPES of duping some un educated collector in dropping BIG $$$ on something that was just cut from a jersey they bought at the store!!! SAD SAD SAD SAD!! So in short people before you buy, ask yourself, DO RESEARCH!!!!!! DO RESEARCH, DO RESEARCH!!!!! It will pay off in the long run!!!

09 GRIDIRON GEAR

OK, so after my AMAZING LUCK with the Panini Prestige i tried my luck with Girdiron Gear. It has been my favorite product since 2006. I have had some pretty good luck with it. I busted a few loose packs from a box that had already been opened. I pulled a JUMBO PRIME JERSEY (1 color...boooo) of Jag's rookie Mike Thomas (12/50) ripped a few more and pulled a REDEMPTION for Next Generation Combos PRIME SIGNATURES of Detroit Lions ROOKIE TE Brandon Pettigrew (been redeemed). Pretty happy with the outcome. I decide i will buy a FULL box ($90), rip rip rip rip rip, etc and NOTHING!!! I get down to my last 3 packs (supposed to be 3 hits per box), and only 2 packs had "hits", Jason Cambell plates and patches (yellow, and white) ALL 1 COLOR!! BOOOOOOOOO!!! 71/100, and then i pull a Steve Largent single jersey 1 color #/250!! and NO AUTOGRAPH!!!! I have already sent in to Panini, so hopefully they will replace it with something good, cuz other than that the BOX SUCKED!! Thanks for the read, and i will keep you updated with what happens!!
